Hex Bolt Hot Dip

Hex Bolt Hot Dip

Hex Bolt Hot Dip Key Features

  • Hot-dip galvanized coating (HDG): Provides a thick zinc layer (typically 50-100μm), forming a metallurgical

bond, offering superior corrosion resistance compared to electro-galvanizing, suitable for outdoor or

humid environments, preventing rust and extending service life.

  • Hexagonal head design: Facilitates the application of high torque using wrenches or socket tools,

    ensuring reliable installation.

  • Material and strength: Base material is carbon steel (e.g., grade 8.8 or 10.9), with a zinc layer enhancing

weather resistance; conforms to standards such as DIN 931 and ISO 4014.

  • Various specifications: Diameters M6-M48, lengths 20mm-500mm, supports full or partial threads, rough

    surface texture increases friction.

  • Advantages: Impact resistant, wear resistant, economical and durable, suitable for harsh conditions, but

the thicker zinc layer may affect precision assembly.

Working Principle

  • Thread mating: The external thread mates with the nut or internal thread of the hole, generating axial

force through rotation, forming a clamping force.

  • Load Transfer: When torque is applied, the bolt tensile stress is distributed. The zinc coating does not

affect mechanical properties but provides sacrificial protection. In corrosive environments, zinc

preferentially oxidizes, protecting the steel substrate.

  • Corrosion Protection Mechanism: The hot-dip process forms a zinc-iron alloy layer, enhancing adhesion.

The principle involves an electrochemical reaction, and the zinc coating self-heals, minimizing damage.

  • Installation Control: Using a torque wrench avoids overtightening and damaging the coating. Combined

with washers, it enhances stability and resists vibration-induced loosening.

Product Applications:

  • Outdoor Construction: Secures bridges, steel structures, or fences, resisting rain and atmospheric

    corrosion.

  • Marine and Shipbuilding: Connects hull components or dock equipment, resistant to salt spray

    environments.

  • Infrastructure: Used for power towers, highway guardrails, or pipeline systems, providing long-term

    stability.

  • Agriculture and Industry: Secures agricultural machinery, warehouse structures, or chemical equipment;

    economically suitable for humid conditions.

  • Energy Sector: Wind turbine towers or solar panel mounting; the zinc coating ensures weather resistance.
