Product Introduction
Standard Name: Circlip / Retaining Ring.
Common Names: Retaining Ring, Retaining Collar, E-Ring, C-Ring.
Product Definition: An open elastic retaining ring installed in shafts or bore grooves to restrict axial movement of components. It is not a traditional washer but an axial retaining device. Common types include internal circlips (installed in bores) and external circlips (installed on shafts).
Circlips Washer Key Features
Open Ring Design: C-shaped or E-shaped opening structure for easy installation/removal using
specialized pliers. It snaps into the groove of a shaft or hole for axial positioning.
Various Types: External (on the shaft), Internal (in the hole), E-clip (lightweight), Beveled, etc.
Materials and Strength: Commonly made of carbon steel or stainless steel, high elasticity and fatigue
resistance; conforms to DIN 471/472, ASME B18.27, and other standards.
Various Specifications: Diameter 3mm-400mm, thickness 0.4mm-10mm, usually zinc-plated or phosphated.
Advantages: Threadless, quick installation, reusable, economical and space-saving.

Working Principle
Groove Installation: Use circlip pliers to compress the opening and insert it into the groove of the
shaft/hole.
Elastic Recovery: After release, the ring elastically recovers its diameter, tightly snapping into the groove
and providing axial support.
Positioning and Fixing: Prevents axial movement of components; open design facilitates disassembly.
Load Distribution: Evenly distributes axial forces and resists vibration; the principle involves elastic
deformation and mechanical interlocking.

Product Applications
Mechanical Transmissions: Fixes bearings, gears, or pulleys on shafts to prevent axial movement.
Automotive Industry: Assembles transmissions, engines, or suspension components.
Household Appliances: Positions rotors in washing machines, motors, or pumps.
Precision Instruments: Machine tools, robots, or optical equipment; commonly found in lightweight
E-type applications.
Industrial Equipment: Universal shaft/bore fixing saves assembly space.
