Product Introduction
Standard Name: C Channel / Structural Channel.
Common Names: C-shaped steel, channel steel, C-channel steel, structural channel steel.
Product Definition: A long steel section with a cross-section shaped like the letter “C.” Classified as a structural steel, it is typically manufactured through hot-rolling or cold-forming processes. Its two flanges provide excellent bending resistance, making it widely used in building structures, mechanical frames, supports, purlins, etc., serving as beams, columns, or guide rails.
C Channel Key Features
C-shaped cross-section design: Open on one side, with a web connecting two parallel flanges, providing
a high strength-to-weight ratio and good bending resistance.
Material and Coating: Commonly made of carbon steel (Q235/Q355), with surface treatments such as
hot-dip galvanizing (HDG), zinc plating (ZP), or painting for corrosion resistance; stainless steel (SS) is
also available.
Strength and Rigidity: High bending modulus, suitable for bearing vertical loads; standards comply with
EN 10346, ASTM A653, or GB/T 2518.
Diverse Specifications: Height 50-400mm, width 30-100mm, thickness 1.5-6mm, length 6m or customized,
supporting light-lipped or heavy-duty types.
Advantages: Lightweight, economical, easy to process (drilling, welding), and quick to install, commonly
used in support systems.

Working Principle
Load Bearing: The flanges bear compressive/tensile forces, and the web resists shear and bending.
Structural Support: The open side facilitates the connection of bolts, clamps, or nesting with other
components to form a framework.
Rigidity Distribution: The C-shape provides a high moment of inertia, resisting bending deformation;
the coating protects against corrosion.
Installation and Fixing: Fixed to the structure with beam clamps or bolts; the principle involves beam
theory and mechanical interlocking.

Product Applications
Construction Engineering: Purlins, wall beams, or roof supports; lightweight C-steel is suitable for
cold forming.
Steel Structures: Factory buildings, warehouses, or bridge frames, providing secondary beam support.
Pipes and Cables: Used with beam clamps to fix pipe supports or cable trays.
Solar Energy Systems: Main beams for photovoltaic brackets; galvanized versions are durable for
outdoor use.
Industrial Equipment: Machine frames or conveyor line supports, economical and durable.
